BITS PILANI
Review - 1

The Birla Institute of Technology & Science, BITS Pilani is an all-India Institute for higher education. The primary motive of BITS is to "train young men and women able and eager to create and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques and information". The Institute is a dream come true of its founder late Mr G.D.Birla - an eminent industrialist, a participant in Indian freedom struggle and a close associate of the Father of Indian Nation late Mr. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi). What started in early 1900s as a small school, blossomed into a set of colleges for higher education, ranging from the Humanities to Engineering until 1964 when all these colleges amalgamated to culminate into a unique Indian University of International standing. This university was christened as the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, known to many as BITS, Pilani.

Over the years, BITS has provided the highest quality technical education to students from all over India admitted on the basis of merit. Its graduates may be found throughout the world in all areas of engineering, science and commerce. BITS symbolizes the maturing of Indian technical ability and "can-do" entrepreneurial spirit, especially as derived from the private sector. BITS is located in the Vidya Vihar campus adjacent to the town of Pilani in Rajasthan.

Student life at BITS Pilani is based on one keystone-Freedom.
The amount of freedom you are given here is giddying. The 0% attendance policy ensures only truly interested students are found in classrooms. The myriad of clubs allow you to pursue any passion you may have. As you move forward, the number of choices with respect to your academic career will only multiply,if you grasp each opportunity given to you fully. The academic and non-academic freedom combine to allow you to make the most of your student life at BITS Pilani.
But I guess you are interested in knowing a few specifics apart from the usual ‘freedom’ spiel. Well, here you are(in point format like the excellent answer from Aastik Koshta):-
No ragging-Any ragging brought to the fore is heavily punished. This sometimes leads to seniors not interacting with juniors within their bhavans(this doesn’t deter a majority of senior club leaders in pursuit of fresh talent. So don’t hesitate to talk to anyone.)
‘Substances’-There will be some cases of the aforementioned freedom causing the students to partake in banned substances. However, I assure you that the authorities crack down heavily on such individuals and ultimately it comes down to you and your choices.
College Fests-There are 3 major college fests in Pilani.BOSM-for the sporty guys and gals,OASIS-for the party people and APOGEE-for the tech enthusiasts. OASIS overcomes a major deficit which you will realise when you come to Pilani.
Pilani-Hell on earth-in terms of weather at least. If it’s summer, you burn. If it’s winter, you freeze. If it's the rainy season they try their best to drown you with clogged roads(lecture halls are islands now-Pilani transformed to Venice minus the charm).

People-All imaginable sorts.Nothing which I tell you here will be unknown to you. ‘Mini India’ might be a cringey but apt term applicable here. ‘Mini Life’-with reference to your stay here might be a bittersweet but apt term as well. Professors-Good-and bad(like any college). You will have to come see this for yourself. In fact, the last point is pretty valid. No Quora answer is going to prepare you for the most transformative experience of your life. This doesn’t mean you have to be afraid. Good People are waiting for you to guide you towards a future of your choosing. Hoping to see any who read this answer and come to BITS

Faculties are all brilliant and kind teachers we have at BITS Pilani, specially in the laboratory. They are always willing to help you.
No attendance policy – This is a standing rule at BITS. Students have no compulsion to go to classes, with the exception of a few compulsory labs. The college firmly believes that students should be free to pursue knowledge independently of what is taught in the classroom. This allows students to pursue other avenues of knowledge and entirely different streams. It’s not uncommon to find a mechanical engineering major who knows more about computer science than his CS counterparts. Hence, many of the students don't give so much importance to attend their classes. But they do come to attend class occasiona
