Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, established in the year 2007,was granted approval by the DENTAL COUNCIL OF INDIA and sanctioned by the GOVERNMENT OF INDIA with Hundred-intake capacity. It is affiliated to MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY, Kottayam and 2010 onwards affiliated to KERALA UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH AND ALLIED SCIENCES, approved by Hon: GOVERNMENT OF KERALA.
The college is managed by Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust.The college is located at INDIRA NAGAR, east of Nellikuzhi town, and is situated just three Kilometers away from the west sideof Kothamangalam municipality. It is on Kothamangalam-Perumbavoor route along the Aluva – Munnar Highway.
The undergraduate dental training program leading to BDS degree (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) is through four and a half academic years from the date of commencement of the course with compulsory rotatory internship for one year. During this period, the students shall be required to engage in full time study at a Dental College recognized or approved by the Dental Council of India. During the first four and half years of undergraduate course, the instruction in clinical subjects should be at least for two and a half years. Annual intake of this institution is 100. Our College is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur, Kerala and Approved by Dental Council of India, New Delhi.
The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme prepares students for careers in the modern world of dental practice by combining clinical studies with basic and advanced dental sciences. Once students have mastered basic competencies in the University’s skills facilities, they rapidly move on to treating patients in both the Dental Hospital and local outreach clinics.
