About

Spread over about 112.5 acres of land, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, is situated on two hillocks in the Kunnamangalam Area of ancient city of Calicut in Kerala. Boasting of one of the most picturesque and oxy-rich campuses in the country, the world class infrastructure includes air-conditioned classrooms, guest care areas and LAN/WAN connectivity which enables every IIMK resident to be exposed to a wholesome experience. Managed by a dedicated regular administrative staff of 67, it is one of the most efficient Institutions in the country, which knows how to keep balance sheet green and keep all the stakeholders happy.

With its roots dating back to 1997, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, started with a batch of 42 students but has grown tremendously over the years with a current batch strength of 356 odd students, making it the fastest growing management school in the country.

IIMK pioneered the Interactive - Learning (I-L) Program for working executives in India. The interactive learning programme started with 300 class contact hours in 2001-02, the two year-long Executive Management Education Programme is today the most rigorous available in the country having around 738 class contact hours.

The institute moved to its new campus in January 2003 and the number of programs increased manifold with this step. The training activity is expected to witness further growth with the latest 64 room executive hostel and the construction of a modern 200 bed management development complex. The Institute today is a leader in Faculty Development Programmes (FDP), conducting the largest number of programmes (18) totalling 20 weeks in 2008-09, and is the major QIP (Quality Improvement Programme) Centre of the All Indian Council of Technical Education, in the field of management education.

The Institute started its Fellow (Doctoral) Programme in Management in 2007 to complete full range of educational services expected from an Institution of higher learning and is also taking new initiative to give impetus to the post-doctoral research activities in the management field, dedicating over 30000 sq. ft. in library space for it, and creating a 300 people strong capacity for boarding and lodging facilities in summers. The Institute takes pride in conducting various National and International Conferences and has conducted 15 conferences in the last 5 years, truly living up to its motto of 'Globalizing Indian Thought'. Furthermore, the Institute has also started taking Consulting Assignments, revenue from which crossed the Rs. 10 million mark in 2007.

IIMK is also one of the few Centres for Development of Digital Libraries in the world and is a country leader. A prominent achievement which comes to the limelight is the establishment of an Incubation Centre for Excellence, in collaboration with the Government of Kerala to help the Scheduled Castes/tribes students overcome their deficiencies in communication, personality etc. Incidentally, IIMK is one of the few management institutes in the country who have filled the full quota of SC/ST candidates in its Postgraduate Programme on a regular basis with a sound track record in job placement. With a highly qualified and experienced faculty, and backed by a large number of committed adjunct and visiting faculty from Industry and other leading management institutes including foreign universities, academics is always a high priority.

The Institute has a strong International Exchange Programme for students and faculty with several leading Management Institutes in EU and ASEAN countries like SDA, Bacconi, Jonkoping, Sweden, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, ESCAP-EAP, France; University of Queensland, Austria, Victoria University of Wellington and so on. An active member of the Strategic Management Forum, IIMK lays stress on organizing Seminar/Conferences and conducts management programs for teachers. Leading Management Institutions like IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore and Lucknow along with MDI, Gurgaon, XLRI, Jamshedpur and IIFT, New Delhi join hands to conduct week long faculty development programmes on various subjects in the field of Strategic Management.

Post Graduate Programme (PGP)

The Post-graduate Programme in Management is a flagship educational programme preparing the young and dynamic graduates for senior level positions in industry and other sectors. The PGP programme also lays greater emphasis on knowledge assimilation and its effective use than on its mere reproduction. Instructors choose from multiple pedagogical tools including lectures, case studies, exercises, role-plays, simulation, video shows etc. to facilitate effective learning in their courses. The continuous evaluation system is rigorous, consisting of quizzes, assignments, mid-term and end-term examinations etc. The programme also lays emphasis on learning through requirements of library-based self-study, group work, open-ended discussions and real life projects. The students inculcate the spirit of 'dream- innovate- achieve' and imbibe social concern as an integral part of the learning process.

Post Graduate Programme in Finance (PGP-Finance)

In addition the student has to pay an amount of INR.25,000/- as Caution Deposit and INR.2,000/- as Students Welfare Fund Collection during the time of registration. Further, he/she has to remit INR. 25,000/- towards mess and students activities deposit before commencement of each term.

Additionally, students have to bear their travel and related expenses for International and National immersion including visa for the international immersion.

Post Graduate Programme in Liberal Studies & Management (PGP-LSM)

INR 2,000/- (INR Two Thousand Only). The Application fee is payable at the time of submitting the online application.

Program Fee

INR 15,00,000/- (INR Fifteen Lakhs only) for two years.

In addition, a participant has to pay a one time amount of INR 25,000/- as Caution Deposit and INR 2,000/- as Students Welfare Fund contribution at the time of registration. Further, the student has to remit INR 25,000/- towards mess and students' activities deposit before commencement of each term. The above-mentioned fee includes the program/workshop expenses related to the core International Immersion and Rural Immersion.

Additionally, the travel and accommodation expenses (on actuals) for the International and Rural Immersion will be borne by the students.

Post Graduate Programme in Business Leadership (PGP-BL)

Fees

Application Fee (Non-refundable):

Rs.3000/- (Rupees Three Thousand Only). The Application fee is payable at the time of submitting the application online

Program Fee:

INR.22,50,000/- (Indian Rupees Twenty Two Lakh Fifty Thousand Only). This fee includes program delivery, books and instruction material, in-campus hostel accommodation, and access to all in-campus facilities such as the library. Mess/Canteen charges would be additional and use-dependent. The above fees also includes program and coordination fees for the International Immersion module and a travel allowance for domestic industry immersion module. Travel and stay related expenses for the international immersion will be additional and will have to be borne separately by the students.

INR 7,50,000 (Indian Rupees Seven Lakh Fifty Thousand Only) will be payable at the time of registration and the balance in three instalments.

Financial assistance is normally available through most scheduled banks to support the fee payment.

Attractive financial support is extended by the Institute to students joining the programme.

  • INDIAN STUDENTS
    • Would be given a stipend of Rs. 35,000/- per month for the first and second years, Rs. 37,500/ per month on successful completion of Comprehensive examination and Rs.40,000/- per month after successful presentation and defense of Thesis proposal.
    • Additional awards are given based on performance.
    • They are exempted from paying tuition and other related fees.
    • They are required to pay mess charges and certain other fees such as offer acceptance fee, alumni association fee, placement fee, refundable security deposit, etc.
  • NRI / FOREIGN NATIONAL STUDENTS
    • NRIs / foreign national students are also entitled for partial to full waiver of fee and or partial or full stipends based on their request and merits on a case to case basis

 

Recruiters

The Summer and Final placements at IIM Kozhikode have grown from strength to strength with each passing year. The recruitment drive for the graduating batch commences in the month of January. A lateral placement process provides students with substantial prior work experience, a lateral entry into managerial positions in leading firms. The process starts in December, before the final placement season commences. IIM Kozhikode strived to carve out a niche for itself as India's leading B-School by placing its 20th batch in reputed companies like Deutsche Bank, Altisource, Goldman Sachs, ICICI, BCG, McKinsey & Co., Accenture Strategy, Deloitte Consulting, HUL, ITC, Johnson & Johnson, TAS, Aditya Birla Group and many more. Companies across sectors participated in the process and made multiple offers across Finance, Marketing, Operations, Consulting, General Management, IT and HR verticals. A number of new companies hired from IIMK resulting in an increased number of first-time recruiters. These include companies such as Arthur D Little, Aspect Ratio, Avendus Capital, Casio, Cedar Consulting, DHFL, GMR, Madura Coats, Shapoorji Pallonji Group and United Health Group. Students with relevant work experience were extended offers of senior managerial roles. Over 81 Pre Placement Offers were secured by students across verticals. Industry stalwarts like Airtel, Asian Paints, Colgate Palmolive, EY, HUL, ITC, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Microsoft, Reckitt Benckiser preferred the PPO route.
