ABOUT THE COLLEGE:

With a view to make available the quality education to the students at the under-graduate level in consonance with the National policy, the J&K Govt. decided to declare some old colleges of the state as the lead Colleges. The Colleges to be identified for the purpose need to be multi-faculty institutions engaged in imparting education in different streams. The Colleges under the scheme shall be the model colleges where the intake Capacity of each branch of knowledge shall be identified, based on the availability of physical infrastructure and human resources. The launching of the scheme is being necessitated as the greater emphasis is to be laid on making higher education more relevant in terms of national demands. The quality assessment measures initiated at national level for assuring quality standards, following the establishment of a specialized institution for the purpose requires the internalization of quality environment in these institutions. Thus, the State shall work out strategies to infuse the quality atmosphere in all the 'colleges in a phased manner by way of changing their status to lead colleges.

DBT has identified Govt. College for Women, Parade Jammu with ambition and potential for excellence and has provided academic and physical infrastructure for achieving excellence in teaching and unique exposure of students to experimental science. Under the DBT scheme of Star College for improving critical thinking and 'hands on' experimental work in the cutting edge-technologies needed for modern biological studies at undergraduate (college) level in life sciences, the college has been provided the financial assistance for Science upgration of science teaching. It is hoped that as a result of such experiences, more students will take up life science as a career.

 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

1) Admission in the lead Colleges shall be open to the students of the entire region. The admission shall be granted on the basis of the academic merit of the students at 10+2 level. A student who has passed Higher Secondary Part-II examination (Class 12th) of the J &K Board of School Education or an Examination recognized as its equivalent by the University of Jammu and hailing from Jammu district is eligible for admission to B.A./ B .Sc./ B. Com /B. C.A Part - I of Three Year Degree Course.

2) The wards of State or Central Govt. Employees posted in Jammu district can be given admission subject to the availability of seats.

3) Students from Institutions located within the territorial jurisdiction of the University of Jammu and the University of Kashmir as residents of state will have preference in admission over non-resident students who have passed Higher Secondary Part-II examinations from institutions falling under the jurisdiction of J&K Board of School Education. The latter will be given admission subject to the availability of seats.

4) The minimum eligibility for seeking admission in these Colleges shall be 50% for the Sciences and 45% for Arts and Commerce Streams.

5) The admission shall be granted to the students on the basis of the priority expressed by them for various identified subject combinations.

6) The intake capacity in these. Colleges shall be determined for different subject combinations on the basis of the availability of physical Infrastructure and human resources, which shall be notified by the respective colleges at the time of admission.

7) A student having fallen short of attendance in the previous academic year of Part - I may be considered for casual admission for the completion of required lectures provided the seats permit to do so.

8) A student whose result is declared late by the State Board may be admitted as per admission rules of Jammu University subject to the availability of seats.

9) The admission of a student will not be considered in case there is break in academic career. However one beak may be condoned by the Principal provided the latter feels satisfied about the reasons of the break thereof.

10) Re-appear/compartment cases in 12th standard are not eligible for admission.

 PROCESS 

  1. Submission of Application Form candidates will be required to fill in the prescribed Application Form & submit it along with the required documents as per the University Notification.
  2. Submission of Admission Form After the submission of application form merit list is displayed 7 days after the University notification.
  3. Admission will continue for 7 days without late fee from the date of notification.
  4. Late fee of Rs.120/- will be charged for the second count of 7 days
  5. Late Fee of Rs.230/- for third count of 7 more days subject to the availability of seats.
  6. Special permission, within one month of the notified date, if granted, by Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu has to be accompanied by special late fee as shall be decided by University of Jammu.

 NOTE:

 . The admission fee is non-refundable.

. The stream/subject combination once opted for will not be changed.

 DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

 The admission form should be accompanied by following documents:

 I - For State Board Students:

1) Marks Card of 12th class in original and two attested photocopies

2) Provisional Certificate in original.

3) Character Certificate in original from the institution last attended.

4) Attested Photocopy of date of birth certificate.

5) Three Passport size photographs (either in uniform or light colored dress).

6) Affidavit as described above.

7) Reserved Category certificate from the competent authority as per SRO 126 dated: 28/06/1994 in original along with an attested photocopy.

 II - For CBSE Students:

  1. Marks Card of 10th class in original and two attested photocopies.
  2. Marks Card of 12th class in original and two attested photocopies.
  3. Provisional Certificate in original.
  4. Character Certificate in original from the institution last attended.
  5. Date of Birth certificate in original and one attested photocopy.
  6. Three Passport size photographs
  7. Affidavit as described above.
  8. Eligibility certificate.
  9. Migration certificate in original along with an attested copy.
  10. Transfer certificate in original and an attested photocopy.
