West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination or the WBJEE is a state-government controlled centralized test, conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board for admission to many private and governmental engineering institutions in West Bengal.
WBJEE 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit for WBJEE 2021

Candidates should have been born on or before December 31, 2003 to be eligible for all the courses offered through WBJEE 2021. The age limit for WBJEE for all the courses is defined below.

  • The lower age limit is 17 years as on December 31, 2021.
  • There is no upper age limit to apply for WBJEE 2021.
  • But for admission to Marine Engineering Course, the upper age limit is 25 years.

WBJEE Eligibility 2021- Domicile/Residential Requirement 

Candidates must be a citizen of India to appear for WBJEE 2021. Candidates from any state are eligible to apply. The domicile certificate will be applicable only for admission in government participating institutes and to claim Reservation

  1. There is no particular residential/domicile requirement to appear in WBJEE 2021.
  2. The state domicile requirement is applicable for any seat under Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW).  
  3. The candidate will be treated as the domicile of West Bengal who is either: Residing in West Bengal since last 10 years by December 12, 2019 or whose parent(s) is/are resident(s) and having a permanent address within the State of West Bengal.


Qualifying Marks for WBJEE 2021

General Academic Qualifications for admission to Engineering/Pharmacy Courses are defined below:

For Engineering​

  • ​Passed class 12 examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects with 45%.
  • Marks required for reserved category is 40% in all the three subjects taken together.
  • Candidates must have passed English in +2 with at least 30% marks.
  • The board of the said qualifying exam must be recognized either by Central Government or State Government.

For Pharmacy

  • Passed class 12 examination with Physics and Chemistry along with any one of Mathematics / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects.
  • Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/OBC-C/PwD in all the 3 subjects taken together.
  • Passed English in class 10+2 exam with at least 30% marks.
  • The board of the said qualifying exam must be recognized either by Central Government or State Government.

  • Physics and Chemistry - 30 Questions in Category 1, 5 Questions each in Category 2 and 3.

Mode of Answering

There will be four alternative answers for each question. The correct response has to be selected by the candidates by darkening the appropriate circle completely with blue/black ball point pen.

Marking Scheme

Category 1 - Each correct answer will be awarded one mark. Category 2 - For every correct response, two marks will be given by the candidates.

Negative Marking

Category 1 - Incorrect response will yield a loss of ¼ mark Category 2 - For each incorrect answer, ½ mark will be deducted. Category 3 - There is no negative marking.
