I am satisfied because of excellent infrastructure and scope of research work.
Placements: Placements in this course are not that good. Only Vikram Solar visits here every year, and they also don't hire students from this branch on a regular basis. Other companies do not provide suitable jobs for this course. In our batch, students were not selected from campus. However, with the effort of our renowned faculty members, some students got a chance to do an internship, and from it, some of them were placed. The salary package offered was around 3.25 LPA.
Infrastructure: Our college is mainly a research lab, and the infrastructure provided for pursuing the project work is outstanding. If anyone wants to do the research work in the field of solar photovoltaics and gas sensors, then this is the most suitable lab in eastern India. Free Wi-Fi facilities and good classrooms also make this department the best. The hostel is good, and the quality of the food varies from hostel to hostel. Overall, it provides good food.

Faculty: Teachers here are exceptional, student-friendly and supportive. Visiting faculty members, along with young faculty members, make this department a special one. They are always free to share their invaluable knowledge and experience to the students. The way they guide the students is helpful for both research purposes and for industries.

I am highly satisfied with the course curriculum, facilities and good placements of my college.
Placements: My college is one of the most sought-after engineering colleges in West Bengal because of its nice conversion ratio and big recruiters like Tata Steel, Maruti Suzuki, Vedanta, Texas Instruments, Google, etc. In my batch of 2018, 70% of the students were placed in mechanical engineering with packages ranging from 4 to 11 LPA and the average being around 7 LPA. A plethora of companies visited the campus for placements varying from non-core recruiters like ZS Associates, PWC, Deloitte, Accenture, IBM, TCS, Wipro, etc. Offering mainly Data Scientist/Analyst roles, to giant core companies like Tata Steel, Maruti Suzuki, Vedanta, Haldia Petrochemicals, Saint Gobain, Hyundai, Denso, etc. Offering mainly Management Trainee roles. Two students even got PPO through internship at CESC and Tata Steel in 3rd year.
Infrastructure: Talking about infrastructure, the department has nearly 20 classrooms with both bench and desk type and gallery type arrangements. Centralised wi-fi, libraries with various books and journals, computer lab for reading and downloading journals for free, state-of-the-art mechanical engineering labs testify to the excellence of the department. Hostels are well furnished (4 in 1 till 2nd year and single room after 3rd year), hygienic with sprawling verandas, green lawns and canopies for chit-chats and fun. The quality of mess food is just awesome with both veg and non-veg options along with delicacies like mutton biryani, chicken fried rice, paneer, Manchurian, etc. Once or twice a month besides the daily routine meal of rice, roti and curry. There is a hospital in the campus offering free healthcare to students. There are two big grounds called Oval and Lords and a gym for sports and fitness lovers.
Faculty: The department of mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and the finest in the state as well as the country. The professors are highly qualified with most of them having done M.Tech from the old IITs and Ph.D. from abroad. Their grasp on their subject is firm and teaching prowess is overwhelming. The course is similar to that of the syllabus of the engineering exams like GATE ESE and other PSUs. The laboratory practicals, although not up to the industrial mark, provide a preliminary understanding of industrial machines and processes. Besides, new labs dedicated to teaching CAD/CAE software like Solid Works, NX-CAM, ANSYS, Matlab/Simulink, etc. Make the students industry ready. A diligent, dedicated student will surely have a bright future ahead if he decides to pursue mechanical engineering here.

Other: An evergreen branch of engineering like mechanical engineering will always be able to provide good jobs to the pursuant. That is the primary reason I went for the same. The operations of various machines, the intricate design of complex parts, the interesting machine drawings and industrial management have just become my passion. However, immediate up-gradation of laboratory equipment to industry level is required for bridging the industry-academics gap and efficient exploiting of young talents. Besides studies, there are also annual events like Rebeca (annual cultural fest), Instruo (annual technical fest) and an annual sports event. The campus is an abode of greenery with lakes, roads, canteens, stationery shops beside the Ganga. All the basic facilities like medical stores, confectioneries, general stores, fast food stalls, bus connectivity to Howrah and Sealdah station (45-90 minutes travel), Shalimar railway station, etc. Make the campus an appropriate place to live and stu

My IIEST "the centre of surprise"
No comments. The work is still going on. And in future it will be the most advanced college in the world. Regard: Professor.dir Parthasarathi Chakraborty

Check Placement and Company visited in Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology - [IIEST] Shibpur, Howrah 2020 - 2021
Fee Structure And Facilities
During the admission the students are requested to open an account in the college bank (UCO Bank) after which the fees of every semester is automatically deducted when the semester starts. All you need is to have keen money in your account. The fee structure is very feasible as because it's a institute of national importance then the fees structure is all set by the government of India. The college is very transparent to the fee structure and no additional money is required during pursument of the whole course time.
Placement Wing
The placement statistics of the college is always a big deal although it overcomes every year. The internship records better.
Hostel Facilities
Yes,almost everyone gets a hostel except from the local residences within the radius of 15 km are not given. In case the rooms are vacant they all get it. Each room has four members and is compulsory that they would be the same branch or state or anything everyone is mixed.
The Alumni and the seniors are like parents to us. This shows the right path and helps us not walk but run on it. The best experience in this college is senior and junior relationship. I am glad that I opted for this college and got such nurturing parents as seniors and Alumni.
Yes from every second year the students are taken to various field excursions all over the country fields by which they are helped out to create a deep bonding between their working official and professionalism. The professors in the college are well experienced and habitual of giving intense info about the subjects.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is quite better in the college as because it is decided by the ministry rather than on the institution. And the infrastructure of the college is not quite as good as one INI should be. The labs and the lecture halls are not so advanced but far better to fulfill our needs. Actually we dig diamond out of stone.
Course Curriculum Overview
Yes, for our industrial interaction INTIUM is held every year and it sometimes offers internships on spot. It gives a lot of knowledge about the present era obstacles in industries and in the field too. The curriculum is a bit classical and it's developing to be advanced.

College Events Rebecca the cultural fest of the college INSTRUO the technical fest And coming to the club's Oikyotaan musical fest Kriti creativity fest Satrang the combined fest INITIUM the national Mining technical fest Abhiyantrix the fest of aerospace Spurn Etc

Batch of Jan. 1, 2021 | B.Tech Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
College Infrastructure
A big central library is here. We have two sports grounds. We have one gymnasium and courts for badminton, volleyball and basketball. Wi-Fi is available in all the departments and labs are completely equipped.
Currently pursuing B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. The curriculum is updated and matches with GATE and other competitive examinations. The teachers are experienced and are experts of their respective fields.
The placement of college is excellent. Maximum of the students get placed from the on-campus recruitment. 90% of the students in my department were placed this year. This is the scenario in all the other departments.
Since it is categorised as NIT and is one of the INI having rank of 19 among all the engineering colleges of India, there should be no question for the value of money. Obviously it is worth it and scholarships are also provided to the needy students.
Campus Life
The campus is full with Greenery. It is at the bank of Hooghly river and the Botanical Garden is near it. The campus life is full of life and students feel very safe inside it. There is a hospital inside the campus itself to handle the emergency cases

Anything Else If you really want to opt for IIEST Shibpur and are not getting NIT Trichy, Surathkal or Allahabad, don't think twice. The place will provide you more than just knowledge and placement. The life here will be unforgettabl
