Established in 1982, B.M.T Law College, Purnia is recognized u/s 2(F) and 12(B) of the UGC act 1956. Permanent affiliation has been granted to this college by the Bar council of India for Law Courses. This college has been accredited Grade "B" by NAAC in year 2011.This Law College is having permanent affiliation from Bihar Government since 1988.This college has a multi-dimensional vision and aims to provide qualitative law education not only to the students living in and around the Purnea district but also impart legal education to students belonging to Koshi Commissionary as well as belonging to two neighboring countries like Nepal and Bangla Desh. It is a well known fact that law education is now an imperative curriculum and also job oriented like medical, engineering and other technical & vocational education. It may also be referred in this context that B.M.T. Law College has a clear cut vision to impart education specially to students belonging to the S.C/S.T. and Backward Classes and those of socially, educationally and economically weak which covers a great bulk of the region. Hence this college gives sufficient impetus to the bulk of population as referred to the above. Such impetus is given in the form of scholarship and also half free studentship.Having well equipped infrastructure, like Administrative Block, Computerized library, Audio-Visual facility, Internet Facility, Digital Learning Facility, Examination Block, Examination Hall, Auditorium, Class Rooms, Yoga and Health Centre, Canteen, Women's Hostel and having well educated experienced faculty members, we are flourishing and nurturing your future at affordable and reasonable cost.This college has organized different extension activities like legal awareness, legal aid, moot court, Lok Adalat and the programmes organized by N. S. S. in which the students and faculty members of law department are participating.







  1. At the time of joining the course of instruction in law (Part-1 Pre Law) the person concerned must have passed an examination of 10+2 or 11+1 course of study as recognized by the Central or State government In proposed such academic qualification, which are considered equivalent to 10+2 or 11+1 course by Bar Council of India with minimum of the marks which is required in qualifying examination.
  2. Students who have passed intermediate examination in Arts /Science/Commerce with 45% marks shall also be eligible for admission and provided in the case of Schedule Caste and Scheduled Tribe may be reduced by 5%.
  3. Any student may admit in part- 2nd five year law examination who has passed part 1 Pre Law examination with at least 45% of marks in the aggregate.
  4. A student who is graduate of a university with at least 45% marks and possesses such other qualification which is recognized equivalent there to by the university of Bar Council of India, will also be eligible to seek admission to Part-2nd of the five years course if he has completed regular course of study for not less than three academic year in university, provided that while studying law, he shall not be permitted to take up any other course.
